When you are floating down a river, suspended on an inner tube with gear space at a premium, you quickly learn what tools actually matter. Designer Julio Diez was on the water with his friend Tito when they passed a dead rat rotting on the muddy bank. That gritty, unforgettable moment inspired the name: the River Rat. It also triggered a design challenge. Diez needed a small, highly packable fixed blade that could ride securely on a wet belt, shrug off constant moisture, and perform when called upon.

This Knife Blade: Sheepsfoot blade with a black finish made from 154CM steel. Handle: Black micarta handle that's light, strong, and attractive. Carry: Kydex sheath to house the blade.
