The Leatherneck Tanto has a 7-inch D2 blade with a black powder coating and a plain cutting edge. Its tanto profile identifies this configuration within the full-sized Leatherneck range. The blade uses a saber-style grind, leaving a substantial section of the blade above the bevel.

A textured black Kray-Ex handle surrounds the tang, with a forward-turned double-quillon guard at the blade end and a machined butt cap at the rear. Cold Steel includes a Secure-Ex sheath with a detachable belt loop. The knife measures 12 inches overall. Its D2 blade and full-sized grip distinguish it from the smaller 8Cr13MoV Mini Leatherneck models.
