The OSS is Cold Steel’s double-edged sub-hilt fixed blade. This version has an 8.25-inch AUS-8A stainless blade with a satin finish. The long blade and secondary guard behind the index finger give it a noticeably different layout from a conventional single-guard outdoor knife.
The black rubberized handle, main guard and sub-hilt are injection-molded as an integrated grip assembly. A molded sheath is included to cover the blade during storage and carry. The sub-hilt provides a defined index-finger position, while the remainder of the handle extends behind it. This OSS configuration should be distinguished from the OSI, which uses a single cutting edge.
